About Me

Hello, my name is Dr. Jennifer Peterson, I am a 36 year-old homeschooling mother and wife with a desire to assist and empower individuals to gain back their health with personalized intentional habit changed, and expert knowledge. My journey to founding Peterson Functional Medicine has been a deeply personal and transformative one. After dedicating 12 years of my life to the Army as a telecommunication expert with deployments to Iraq and time as a drill sergeant, I left the service and began my career in healthcare. After getting my masters in nursing and my doctorate in nursing practice, I proceeded with my post doctorate family nurse practitioner certificate. Throughout my career, I have witnessed the limitations of mainstream medicine, which often focus too heavily on rushed interactions, and treating symptoms rather than addressing the root cause of health issues. This realization filled my passion to create a practice that prioritizes holistic health, where the entire patient is considered, not just their ailments, and pharmaceuticals are only a last resort option.

My vision for Peterson Functional Medicine is to empower patients to take control of their health by adopting sustainable, life-changing habits. I believe that true healing comes from understanding, and addressing the underlying factors that contribute to illness, rather than simply masking symptoms with pharmaceuticals. This approach allows me to work closely with patients, guiding them on a journey towards optimal, health and well-being. The telemedicine model enables me to maintain my family life and work balance and also to reach a wider audience, providing accessible and personalized care to individuals across the state.
